Every boutique has its story — and this is ours. Let's take you back to where it all began.

Wild Oak Boutique began in 2016 with a simple goal: offer women stylish, feel-good fashion with heart. Founded by Karly Smallfield in her parents’ basement, Wild Oak started as a side hustle—traveling to local vendor fairs and gradually building a loyal community through a modest online shop.

By late 2019, Karly took the leap and went full time. In 2020, she and her husband Tarin moved Wild Oak into the basement of their first home, turning their unfinished space into the heartbeat of the brand. As orders picked up and their customer base grew, the hustle became a team effort—Wild Oak hired its first employees.

In 2021, Wild Oak outgrew the basement and moved into its first dedicated warehouse: 6,000 square feet filled with inventory, a scrappy office, and a makeshift photoshoot setup. Around the same time, Tarin came on board full-time to help support the growing business.

By 2023, Wild Oak was thriving. A second 6,000 sq. ft. warehouse was added to keep up with demand. Later that year, the Smallfields broke ground on a new 24,000 sq. ft. facility to bring everything under one roof.

In July 2024, the two warehouses were consolidated into the new space—and within months, construction began on a 10,000 sq. ft. expansion, completed by December 2024.

That same year, Wild Oak Boutique made the INC. 5000 list as one of the fastest-growing companies in the country—and the fastest-growing company in South Dakota.

What began as a small-town side gig is now a thriving, family-run operation powered by passion, grit, and a love for helping women feel amazing in what they wear.
